Biggest merger ever in the service voucher sector
Daenens: new name, same dedication to families and household helps
From 20 August 2024, seven of Belgium’s largest service voucher companies are joining forces and continue under one brand name: Daenens. In Belgium, service vouchers facilitate the life of over 1.2 million families. Around 100,000 families receive a Daenens household hero every single week. With more than 16,500 employees, the new brand has now become the largest employer in the sector and one of the largest in the country.
The merger of Dienstenaanhuis, Plus Home Services, GreenHouse, Makkie, No Dust, Glax and TS Wallonie enables Daenens to share successful methods and create new growth opportunities within the organisation.
We already worked quietly under different brands within Group Daenens, but now we have chosen to proceed under one flag. This will increase our street visibility and strengthen our services to customers and household helpers even further
Positioning Daenens as a social, warm-hearted employer
By rebranding the various companies, Daenens wants to continue taking up its role as a social and warm-hearted employer. ‘Every single day, our employees dedicate themselves to supporting families. Even more, many of them pretty much become part of the families they visit for many years. They are often the crucial link that enables both parents to work outside the home or allows an elderly person to continue living at home for longer,’ Daenens says.
Structural challenges for the sector
‘Too often people still think of a domestic worker as someone who just comes to take off dust, but that is really not the reality. We call them household heroes because of their commitment and great social value. They deserve everyone's respect. As CEO, I want to take up the gauntlet even more in the fight against this false perception. Daenens is fully committed to the well-being of our household heroes and to making the profession and the sector more attractive,’ the CEO explains.
The sector is showing structural pains and 43.5% of companies turned a loss in 2022. The service voucher’s price has remained unchanged for more than a decade, while costs have been increasing. This is leading to unrest within the sector. ‘The time to show political courage is now. By reviewing the price of the service voucher and its fiscal deductibility, a workable system can be created that is fair for domestic helpers, companies, government and customers,’ Daenens adds.
Service levels remain the same
Obviously, customers can continue to rely on the familiar service and the uninterrupted operation of Daenens’ 5 offices across Belgium. ‘We remain committed to remain accessible and close to our nearly 100,000 customers. Even more, we are looking for plenty of new colleagues as we continue to grow,’ Daenens emphasises.
