About our household help
Three household helps, three safety tips
A slight distraction. An e-step. A staircase. Accidents can happen in the blink of an eye. That is why, on 28 April – the UN’s World Day for Safety and Health at Work – Daenens focuses on what matters every single day: the ability to work safely. Three of our domestic workers share their stories and tips.
Great work depends on safety. As an employer, we actively invest in health and safety, as well as providing support in the workplace. Equally valuable are the tips and experiences of our household helps themselves. They know the risks involved — and how to avoid them — better than anyone else.
Fatima, who has worked a cleaning assistant for over ten years now, knows just how quickly an accident can happen. She once tripped on a staircase at the end of a working day. Her advice is clear: always take your time and don’t try to do several things at once. Working one step at a time is always safest.
Thomas, who joined Daenens last year, found out just how vulnerable you can be while on the move when he fell off his e-step on the way to visit a client. His tip: always choose the safest mode of transport and avoid unnecessary risks. Safety always comes first.
Nathalie, who has 11 years of experience, once fell down a flight of stairs at a client’s home. The fact that she had taken them countless times before made her less alert. Her message: always remain on your guard, even in places you know well.
Three stories. Three clear tips. These small, shared insights can make a world of difference. Daenens is committed to workplace safety through careful coaching, support and listening to our people on the job.
Together, we work safer. Today and every day.
