Social impact at Group Daenens

Empowering people, creating opportunities and offering new perspectives: social impact is deeply rooted in Group Daenens. Olivier De Cock works every day to further develop this social commitment and make its impact more visible. We spoke to him about what social impact means to him and to Group Daenens.

Helping people grow

For Olivier, social impact is first and foremost about people.

“Helping people grow is something that’s deeply ingrained in me. It gives me the energy and motivation to keep going every day. At Group Daenens, it means daring to look beyond corporate numbers and results.”

This vision translates into a focus on everyone connected to Group Daenens: from household helps and colleagues to customers, partners and the wider community. “It’s about warmth, respect and providing space to grow. When these values are truly embraced, they shine through in everything you do.”

Creating opportunities through partnerships

Empowering people is an important belief at Group Daenens. It is reflected not only within our own organisation, but also in the partnerships we build.

Group Daenens supports YouthStart, which helps young people discover their talents. JINC guides young people from vulnerable neighbourhoods towards education or employment, while Starterslabo supports unemployed people who dream of starting their own business.

We build lasting relationships with all these partners with one shared goal: helping people move forward.

Social impact starts in people’s homes too

According to Olivier, one of the most tangible examples of social impact can be found in the everyday work of Daenens household helps.

“Our household helps make a difference to their customers every day. Thanks to their support, families have more breathing space and more time for other things. For older customers, household help can also contribute to enabling them to stay in their own homes for longer, in familiar surroundings and close to family and friends.”

The service voucher system also has an important impact on household helps themselves. They work within a legal framework with an employment contract, while gaining professional experience and building their network.

“For some, it is a first work experience or an important step in their career. Others later move on to new opportunities, within or outside Daenens. That is another way in which social impact truly comes to life.”

An impact we want to keep strengthening

Group Daenens aims to further strengthen its social impact in the years ahead and make it even more visible. “For me, it’s simple: without social impact, there would be no Group Daenens. That’s why we want to make our impact even more visible, talk about it and continue to make it stronger. So that everyone becomes even more aware that what we do here matters. Every single day.”
