Daenens supports new entrepreneurial platform ‘Ondernemen voor iedereen’

Removing obstacles

It took Starterslabo and GTB one year to investigate the obstacles that people with disabilities experience when they want to take up entrepreneurship. The initial research title, ON-ON, clearly referred to how people with a disability must press their ON-button twice when considering becoming an entrepreneur. Their mental and/or physical disability already creates some barriers and it is sometimes hard to find a way through the maze of different regulatory hurdles. Moreover, entrepreneurship entails lots of trial and error for anyone, with or without a disability. 

Getting involved

For years, organisations like Starterslabo and GTB have already been guiding people with a distance to entrepreneurship. They know their way through the labyrinth of benefit institutions (RIZIV, RVA, VAPH ...) and the possible traps of benefits. They help with questions like ‘how much can I earn on top of my benefits, is it better to choose a main or secondary profession?’ etc. Their research project revealed that the target group wants to feel fully engaged in their search for answers and this eventually led to the development of the dedicated ‘Ondernemen voor iedereen’ platform, which translates as ‘entrepreneurship for everyone’. 

Inspiring and guiding

The site is careful not to stigmatise and is meant for anyone looking for information about entrepreneurship, disabled or otherwise. It recognises that every entrepreneurial journey is an individual and very personal one, yet there are similar phases that every future entrepreneur has to go through. The platform inspires with engaging testimonials and guides interested people through the different steps of entrepreneurship, with various insightful sources of information.
