Daenens already increases wages for household helps

CEO Nico Daenens shared important news with all our household helps:
"On 7 July 2025, Federgon and the trade unions signed a memorandum of understanding regarding your pay rise. This MOU now has to be formalised through collective labour agreements, but this process seems to have gotten stuck again...

However, it should not be that difficult to finalise the agreement in a constructive and quick manner. That is why, together with our management team, I have decided not to wait any longer. We want to and will already implement the most important parts of the agreement, even though there is no final agreement between the federations and the trade unions yet. As such, Daenens has already implemented the pay rise for all of our Flemish and Walloon household helps since July, which you will notice on your July payslip.

Sadly, I am reading quite a lot of rumours and half-truths in press releases. We refuse to go along with this and as an employer, we want to avoid you being victims (any longer). At the same time, this signals that we take this matter seriously and, above all, that you deserve this pay rise!

Is this the perfect agreement for me? Far from it... As reported in the media, I preferred a formula that would result in a full additional euro per hour net, or another combination of gross and net that would yield more... But the federation and the trade unions opted for a gross increase of 77 cents and we will, of course, apply the agreement in full.

I sincerely hope that our sector can continue to work and grow positively in the future, especially for our Brussels household helps. Because everyone in our sector (both the domestic workers and employees) contributes tremendously to society and the importance of your work and your commitment continues to be underestimated!"
