What are we waiting for to raise price of the service voucher?
As CEO of one of Belgium’s largest service voucher companies, Nico Daenens is always looking for ways to defend the cleaning sector. To avoid misunderstandings and contribute solutions himself, he wrote, among other things, an editorial article that was published in July 2024 in the financial daily De Tijd. Read the full article via the link below or check out its three main pointers here:
The opinion of CEO Nico Daenens in 3 main pointers
Invest the proceeds of the tax deduction towards the service voucher sector itself and raise the service voucher price. Make sure to do the latter socially, for example by working with a variable price, so that service vouchers remain affordable for each target group. Consider, among others, older people who can continue to live at home longer thanks to the voucher system.
Be tough on whoever does not respect the current regulations and do not punish the entire sector and the companies that do comply. Because creating even more rules and conditions leads to more costs, which would negate my suggested recommendations in the first point.
Employers and trade unions have been calling for a system review for years. Many surveys show that also users would agree to this. So there is considerable public support, yet it is (or was?) mainly politicians who have been putting the brakes on. I hope this will change with the new agreement.
